Weekly news week 34 2021
Weekly news week 34 2021. Mold or plume, it is a question and a discussion that never seems to end. Every week someone in one of the many Facebook cigar groups asks the question of whether his or her cigar is moldy. And every time a discussion starts about plume, if it is real or if it is mold. And that it can’t be mold because it is white. There is so much misinformation out there, that we wrote an article about it. And yes, mold comes in white too.
Reviews
The reviews of this week are a limited edition of the Oliva Serie V Melanio. The 2020 limited edition to be precise. Is it as good as the regular production cigar? The second review is something special. Not the cigar itself, as it’s Drew Estate’s Acid 20. But we smoke it safari style, which means from the head to the foot instead of foot to head. To avoid the sweetened wrapper, and to see if it is better that way. Next week we will post a review of the Acid 20 where we smoke it the way it’s intended.
Cigar news
“If I ruled the world” I would be smoking cigars. Well, I do that without ruling the world. But if I ruled the world, I would have my own cigar brand. And that’s exactly what the rapper Nas thought as well. He is now the co-owner of Escobar Cigars. Padilla Cigars is releasing a cigar as an ode to the author Ernest Hemingway. Protocol Cigars is releasing a cigar to raise funds for a charity that’s helping veterans readjust to life in a non-combat society. And La Aurora honors Fernando Leon at what would have been his 100th birthday.
There is a new premium cigar on its way with CBD. Limitless is planning to release the cigar early next year and to compete with Jas Sum Kral’s Nuggs (we reviewed the Habano and Maduro Nuggs). Davidoff is releasing the 2020 Chef’s Edition. But not in Germany and Austria due to legislation. There is other good news for Germany though as Casa Magna is making its comeback to the German market. And there are two new samples for Germany, one from Plasencia and one from Alec Bradley.
The German cigar brand Laura Chavin is coming to Switzerland. J.C. Newman is releasing another 1000 boxes of the Yagua, a unique project. El Septimo is coming to New Zealand. Southern Draw finds a partner in Australia. Sad news for The Netherlands as smoking lounges are a thing of the past. And we published the birthday calendar for September. This was the weekly news of week 34.
