Wellauer brings Laura Chavin back to Switzerland
Wellauer brings Laura Chavin back to Switzerland. After a hiatus of four years, the Laura Chavin brand is back. In 2017 Laura Chavin Cigar GmbH filed for bankruptcy and disappeared. But Willi Knopf, a passionate aficionado and marketing expert wasn’t going to let the brand be forgotten. He took over the trademark rights and assets of the Laura Chavin brand in 2019 and has been slowly rebuilding the brand. The cigars are already available in Germany, and now Switzerland is next.
As an importer and wholesaler, Wellauer AG has been selling high-quality tobacco products for all of Switzerland since 1898. It has had its headquarters in the tranquil Rheineck in the Rhine Valley since mid-2017. With a total of five own tobacco shops in St. Gallen, Buchs SG, Olten, and Zurich, she always has her finger on the pulse. As a wholesaler, Wellauer AG supplies several hundred repeat buyers throughout Switzerland and aims to be able to offer high-quality pleasure products at fair prices. The relaunched cigar brand “Laura Chavin” fits perfectly into the assortment of the tobacco importer from Eastern Switzerland.

Back in 2019 Knopf founded his cigar company and said “Now nothing stands in the way of a continuation of Laura Chavin cigars. For me as a cigar lover, it would be a real shame if these extraordinary cigars no longer exist. We are happy to take on the challenge of giving the Laura Chavin brand the old shine it deserves.” Much stayed the same, such as the name and the factory in the Dominican Republic. Other things changed, such as the blends and the artwork, although the latter still refers to the old.
