Why I’m Excited for the Amazon Basin’s 2025 Release
I’ve been hearing about the Amazon Basin cigar for years now, and one of my biggest regrets is missing out on its previous releases. Several friends have highly recommended it, describing it as a unique and unforgettable experience. Naturally, when I heard it’s making a return in 2025, I couldn’t be more excited to finally try it.
The Amazon Basin originally debuted in 2014 as a limited edition and quickly developed a strong following. While the cigar wasn’t initially planned for another release so soon, discussions with the STG UK rep revealed that the ongoing demand has prompted its return. This time, I’m determined not to miss the opportunity.
For those unfamiliar, the Amazon Basin is a 6 x 52 toro crafted with an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and filler tobaccos from Brazil, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. Its defining feature is the rare Brazilian Bragança filler, harvested only once every three years. The cultivation process is as unique as the cigar itself, with the tobacco aged in rolled “carottes” and transported out of the rainforest by canoe.
The 2025 release will maintain the rustic design that sets the Amazon Basin apart, with its coiled tobacco replacing a traditional band. Retailing at $14.49 in the U.S., it’s worth noting that UK prices are expected to be significantly higher, making it a premium purchase for enthusiasts here.
Hearing that the Amazon Basin is returning feels like a second chance. The combination of its rarity, exceptional craftsmanship, and strong recommendations from friends has made it one of the cigars I’m most looking forward to trying. If, like me, you missed out on earlier releases, this is your chance to experience what so many have spoken about.
