You can vote for the cigar trophy
You can vote for the cigar trophy. A few weeks ago, our friends from Cigar Journal opened the doors for nominations for their annual Cigar Trophy awards. And now the organizers have made shortlists of all the categories for cigar enthusiasts worldwide to vote for the actual trophies. The results are revealed in a virtual show in September of this year. Usually, the trophies are awarded during a ceremony at Intertabac. But since Intertabac is canceled due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, the event will be virtual. The same as last year.
Best Brand
The “Best Brand” category has five sub-categories. One for Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominican Republic, and Other Countries. The nominees for Cuba are: Cohiba Línea 1492, Hoyo de Monterrey, Montecristo Línea Clásica, Partagás Serie D, and Trinidad. For the best brand Dominican Republic, cigar enthusiasts can vote for the Davidoff Millennium Series, E.P. Carillo Perez-Carillo Series, Fuente Fuente OpusX ,La Aurora 107 Nicaragua, and La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero.
The Best Brand Honduras battle goes between Alec Bradley with the Magic Toast, Camacho Triple Maduro, CLE Corojo, Leaf by Oscar Valladares, and Rocky Patel Number 6. Fans of Nicaraguan cigars can vote for A.J. Fernandez Bellas Artes Maduro, Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series, Perdomo 10th Anniversary, Plasencia Alma Fuerte, or Undercrown Sun Grown by Drew Estate
The other countries category has contestants from Mexico, Costa Rica, United States, Italy, and Brasil. Those are the Casa Turrent Serie 1880, Casdagli Daughters of the Wind, Herrera Esteli Miami, Toscano Classico, and Villiger do Brasil.
Best Cigar
The Best Cigar category has the same sub-categories with a few surprising nominees. The Cuban nominees aren’t surprising, as they are the usual candidates: Bolivar Royal Coronas, Cohiba Esplendidos, Montecristo Edmundo, Partagas Maduro No.1, and Trinidad Media Luna. For the Dominican Republic, you can choose between A. Fuente Magnum R Vitola 56, Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper Robusto, Diamond Crown Julius Caeser Toro, E.P. Carillo Pledge Prequel, and Saga Short Tales Tomo I.
The choice for Honduras is hard as well. With Aladino Corojo Reserva Toro, Eiroa CBT Maduro Toro, Flor de Selva Classic Fino, Kafie 1901 Sumatra Toro Bello, and Leaf by Oscar Valladares Maduro Toro as contenders. The Nicaraguan choice is between Alec Bradley Project 40 06.60, Días de Gloria Short Churchill, Liga Privada No.9 Toro, Oliva Serie V Melanio Double Toro, and Perdomo 10th Anniversary Box-Pressed Epicure Maduro.
The other countries category has five nominees from five countries. Atabey Ritos from Costa Rica, Casa Turrent Origin Series Nicaragua Robusto Extra from Mexico, Inca Tambo from Peru, The American Toro from the USA, and the Villiger do Brasil Claro Robusto, Brazil.
Best value and other categories
For the best value Cuba, the competition goes between El Rey del Mundo, Fonseca, José L. Piedra, Quai d’Orsay, and San Cristóbal de la Habana. The Dominican cigars selected are Cusano Bundle Selection, Kristoff GC Signature Series, La Aurora 1903 Cameroon, La Galera Habano and VegaFina 1998.
Best Value Honduras will go to one of these five brands: 2012 by Oscar Valladares Corojo, Asylum 13 Connecticut, C.L.E Corojo, Rocky Patel LB1, and Villa Zamorano Reserva. The Nicaraguan nominees are A.J. Fernandez New World Connecticut, Brick House Maduro, Condega Serie F, Nica Rustica, and Perdomo Lot 23.
The best lounge award is now the best virtual lounge award. And it goes between AmiCigar V-Lounge, Cigar Lounge UK , Light ‘em Up Lounge, Small Batch Virtual Lounge, and Zoom Cigar Bar.
The last category to vote for is the best accessory. The nominees are Boveda One Year Humidor Bag, Colibri Quantum, Les Fines Lames Le Petit, Smoking Moses Razor Cut, and S.T. Dupont Megajet.
The votes of us are cast, yet we won’t say who we voted for. Don’t expect any advisory from us this year, go with your gut. But vote, and log in at the virtual award show later this year.
